FRENCH CORRAL ITEMS
FRENCH CORRAL, Nov. 10, (Special to The Nugget)— We hardy
know where to begin our “items”
this time, for we have been so interested in the coming election, and
its outcome has been such a keen
disappointment, that we have hardly recovered from the shock ere our
week is up. While many of us are
filled with segret that our splendid ;
presidential candidate has. been turned down we shall not )idse heart altogether but can now turn our attention to the work that is our share
to perform.
We are very thankful for the bounteous rain given in the past week.
Already we are turning green, but
not with envy. No, not we, but our
pastures and hillsides, and as Fr,
Ricard forecasts a pleasant November, we know it means full and
plenty, for the herds that go by almost daily. The stockmen are stili
bringing their cattle from the mountains. When we stop to¢think of the
thousands’. of dollars in value that
over our roads daily we do not feel .
that _we are such back numbers even
if we do live in an almost deserted
mining town. . ‘
We have many visitors, anyway,
and your correspondents do not begin to g¥t the names of all.
Miss Louise Moulton, who teaches .
Bloomfield school was: the North
home to spend the week’s end with
her parents and also home, for election day.

Sullivan and Mrs. K. Sullivan made
a trip to San Juan Sunday.
The regular meeting of the S. J.
down from
trip this
ly owned and controlled by the two. R, W. A. was held in San Juan Sunday afternoon. Altho the attendance
dance was small a very interesting
meeting was held. Our chairman,
Sam McCullough, reported that they
expect to finish the repair work
within two weeks unless they meet
with some unlooked-for handicap.
They have met with so many such,
since they began the repair work that
it has been most discouraging. Our
chairman, Sam McCullough is truly
to. be commended for his untiring efforts in our behalf. We surely could
not find another to fill his place.
A. Browning and L. Stegman were
hauling hay to Rough and Ready
Tuesday.
Joe Swazey came.down from Tyler
Tuesday to vote. He has been working for R. Phelan and will spend a
few days in French Corral.
Miss Luey O’Connor of Sacramento is visiting at her old home in
3irehville. Her sister, Miss Katie O’Connor, had a fall Tuesday, in which
che severely sprained her right arm
at the wrist.
