Facts About the Telephone .
Nearly 100 new long distance
telephone circuits were placed in
service in Louisiana in 1930.
One telephone line is available to
every 167 square feet of renting
area in the new Empire State Building in New York City.
In recent years there has been
considerable telephone deve¥opment in London, England, with the
result that London now has one
telephone for every eight persons.:
One direct telephone circuit has
proved insufficient to care for the
calls between Nashville, Tenn.,
and New York City, and recently
a second direct circuit has been
installed.
All of the points in Argentina,
Chile, and Uruguay having telephone connections with Buenos '
Aires are now within reach of Bell
System telephones. Previously the
service was limited to Argentina,
nine cities of Chile, and the city of
Montevideo, Uruguay.

BOYTANO GOLD MINE
SHOWS GOOD VALUES
Jamestown, Calif. Nov. 13—A14inch streak of high grade gold ore,
yielding assays as high as $1,400, a
_ton, has been exposed in the exploration of a three and a half foot body
of milling ore on the 200-foot level
of the 250-foot incline shaft on the
Boytano mine, 30 miles southwest of
Jamestown, in the extreme southwestern section of Tuolumne County,
according to Manager Fred F. Lautenschlager:_/. -The property is being
operated by the Calaska Gold Mining
Company, of which F. Schultz of
Fairbanks, Alaska, is president.
Exclusive of-the high grade rock,
the yield of the orebody, which has
been proved for a length of abour
100 feet on the 100 and 200-foot
levels, has averaged, it is asserted
$12.50 a ton in gold on the plates of
the 10-stamp mill on the property,
, which has been operating only part
time due to shortage of water. It is
the intention of the management, it
is stated, to continue the shaft to a
greater depth to further develop the
. orebody and in the hope of obtaining
an increased volume of water for
milling purposes.
