SECOND TOURNAMENT
DRAWING NEAR END
The second bowling tournament
in the Elks league is drawing near
its end. Due to the return of Chief
Walling for the week, The Nugget
is able to present a complete summary of the week’s play. The games
Monday night failed to materialize
owing to the holiday. The Ghidottis
took fiur points from the Mobleys
Wednesday night, the Carrs gave th:
Bigelows the same dose. Thursdoy
night. .
There was but Httle spectacular
work for the week, 455 pins by
Hogan being high mark with the
rest strung out in a -long line he:
hind, Southpaw Lelter trotted in
second place with some pretty work
from the port side and easily lead
the field in the srrike departmeut
with ten of the perfect hitters. Rollin Wright is coming up fast in his
play and looks’ to be getting into
shape to trim some if the top notchers before the winter’s Play. {s over.
He hit for a 137 average the past
week and landed in‘ third place.
Mobley’s average was far below average for some reason. Richards,
Nickless and Kopp tied up things
with total pins although Nickless’
work stood iut a little better in the
strikes and spares. He and Richards
tied with high honors for the week
with 13 squares each.
The scores for the week follow:
Doubles — Leiter 2, Bettles
Nickless, Higan.

The second week’s play in the

tournament ended with the Native
Sons on the top. perch and last
year’s champions temporarily looking up from the bottom rung of the
ladder.
Last Tuesday the Natives, aided
somewhat by the goddess of luck,
nailed two of the three games with
the fast-traveling Odd Fellows and
Wednesday evéning Court Garfield
trampled on a weakened Corte
Christoforo Colombo’ team to the
iune of two games to. ne.
This week the Natives will invade Fresters Hall on Monday evening while Colombo will be the visiiors of the Odd Fellows on Tuesday evening.
Captain Herb. Hallett of the Natives apparently has a beiter brand
of hoof oi! this -year for limbering
up the Natives’ pitching equipment
and he is beaming this week over
having spilled the Odd Fellows last
week. Cour®-Garfield by taking Corte Colombo into camp last week. rerleved the ground they lost to the
Odd Fellows in the first series and
the Natives and Garfield should put
ip a good menu Monday. ‘
Colombo

been going great euns in practice
and competition this yearsand have
full anticipation of sitting with
their feet under the table this year
with someone else carving the chicken, cleaning the cutlery and dousing the dishes at the final banquet.
Colombo will be out to regain their
prestige of last year which has been
somewhat lowered by. their unlucky
start.
The schedule this year is of
twelve week’s duration and the early
wins ciunt much more than they did
last year, and it is doubtful if any
