The Christmas Seal Sale is not a drive for funds which
do not affect Nevada County.
Do You Know—
That tuberculosis can happen to you—that it can happen
to any of. your friends or relatives? We _ sincerely hope it
doesn’t, but it did strike down over ten persons every day last
year in California, and it happened tight here in Nevada
County, too.
Do You Know—
That to help protect the people of Nevada County, the
Nevada County Tuberculosis Association carried on a county
wide proeram of tuberculosis discovery and control this year?

Just how much can be done next year depends on the
1940 sale’ of Christmas Seals. The Nevada County Tuberculosis Association must be able to continue its campaign to discover hidden cases of tuberculosis and to prevent the spread
of the disease in Nevada County.
It is up to all of us to do our part.
“Make some small improvement every day,” is the advice of William Feather, metal trades magazine editor, to

Human Nature Quiz

Psychologists are anticipating with relish the rare field
day they'll have when they come to study the results of aptitude and knowledge tests given to hundreds of shonsands of
selective service recruits.
If any conclusions are ever going to be arrived at regarding that curious thing caled “human nature’’ this, admittedly,
is the way to do it. Take a very large cross-section of the population, submit identical problems to a million or more persons,
and see what they do with them.
In addition to the standard tests, two young army officers of Fort Dix, N. J., have constructed a whole series of ‘‘emotional’’ tests which they hope will be approved and submitted to conscriptees. Here's one of them:

““NO"’—a general might be in the car. Yet-a_ psychologist
could conclude that a recruit who replied with an emphatic

the impetuous rock-heaver, on the other ‘hand, is plainly in
need of that disciplined self-control which i is the requisite of
