RURAL TEACHERS HEAR PROGRAM The November meeting of the Nevada County Rural Teachers club was held on Saturday morning at the court house, with Mrs. Grace Mounday, president, presiding. A large group of teachers was present to hear various matters of importance discussed. Mrs. Sylvia. Mosher, rural supervisor, spoke on defense education in the schools and also discussed the reading program with the members. Mrs. Marian ‘Newberry, Supervisor told of the dental clinics for the pre-school child. These clinics are held once a month in Nevada City, Grass Valley and Truckee. Any child up to six years of age may be brought to these clinics for examination and dental service. i Mrs. Newberry also reminded the teachers of the Christmas Seals sale which begins after Thanksgiving. The tuberculosis skin tests and follow-up X-rays were made possible for hundreds of Nevada County children through the sale of these seals. (Much interest was shown in the ‘art demonstration by Mrs. Madge Perkins teacher at Washington, who exhibited work done by her. pupils. (Many new and helpful ideas were taken home by the teachers.
