since that memorable band-playing, flag-waving day in 1876. it
hasn’t deen all coasting, it has taken a lot of steam—fighting the
battles of its communities as readily as its own—holding a steady
hand on hé throttle during the shifting eras of a nation—eagerly
building a pattern of accommodation that grew into railroad service,
recognized and respected by major American railroad lines, swinging its mechanized tempo to meet that of modern day approved
transportation and freighting—augmenting rail facilities with sleek
lined passenger busses and capable highway freight carriers.
Steam trains superceded the old-time stage coach in answer to
the demand for faster, safer travel. Then, with further invention,
came comfort-abundant highway busses and fast passenger
planes. Verily the cycle of transportation has set the pace for progress, and in this trend the Nevada: County Narrow Gauge Railroad
has forged ahead, abandoning *rail passenger service for more exe

Joe Nelson of Live Oak. She graduated from the Marysville High School
and a Marysville beauty college.
Burns, son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo.
Burns of Yreka, is a graduate of the.
