passes and connected three times.
The last pass was for 45 yards and a. '
touchdown as the game _ endéd.
Grass Valley converted and won the
game 25 to 19, one of the most hectic contests ever seen on any man’s
gridiron.
Coach Barron is to be commended
for the wonderful progress he has
made this year with the team.
Nevada City was the agressive
team throughout the game, especially superior was the local line. Time
and again they spilled the opposing . <
backs for a loss or no gain. Although outweighed 12 pounds to the
man, the local team proved itself a
better playing organization. They
were better versed in the fundamentals of football and played with
more fight than their opponents.
Casci and Schiffner were instrumental in the fine line play that was
seen. Wes Barry played his best
same of the year, breaking through
and “making many of the tackles.
The ends all played at their top
form. Tucker again played his
stédady game at center .
Fullback Oates as expected did
a lot of heavy hitting line plunging.
Pierce did not get in because of his
smashed finger, until the second
quarter, but he made his presence
felt plenty after that with his smashing type of play. Chapman got his
punts away plenty
a good all around fact. all
of the boys played at top fom, there
were no individual stars, just a~good .
hard playing team.
Although the local lads lost four
out of their seven games played
they made a very good record for
the first year of play. No team de
feated them by more than one touch-dewn-andthey lost most of those by].
the skin of their teeth. A check of
the touch downs and total scores
made gives Nevada City a good edge,
They scored 92 points to their opponents 63 and made 14 touchdowns
against 10.
The record of teams Played and
the scores is as. follows:
Nevada City vs. Auburn, 14-0 favor Nevada City; Nevada City vs.
