THE NEVADA CITY NUGGET MONDAY, NOV:28, 1932 a Nevada City , Nugget 305 Broad Street. Si 36A Legal Newspaper, as defined by statute. Printed amd are lished at Nevada City. ale eanee uete on acie nfennnsedenwesseasncsnnntneanennnes Publishers : Associate Editor — Published semi-weekly, Monday and Friday, at Nevada City, California, and entered as mail matter of the second class in the postoffice at Nevada City, under Act of Congress, March 3, 1879. SUBCRIPTION RATES One year, in Nevada county .-...... $2.00 Outside Nevada county, in United States. es cdeseaduushecsuenucccioe 2.50 cates HOLDING BACK MINING DEVELOPMENT There are many people in Nevada county and the surrounding mining districts that own mining properties of meritorious qualities from a development standpoint. There are a number of these property owners that would like to have moneyed people come in and spend money in the development of their property. There are also a number of moneyed people who would like to invest inane the development of worth while mining properties. 9 ~~ It seems only natural that some of these property owrtrs and moneyed people should get together. Other times the moneyed people send out their engineers to investigate mining properties or prospects for investment purposes. But in the vast majority of. cases the property owners and the people who have the money never get together ina financial way. If the property has real mert and the investors fail to invest in it, there is usually a reason—and the reason is in ‘most cases because the property owners ask too much for an undeveloped mining prospect. Take for instance the case of a man who inherited a group of mining claims several miles from Nevada City. The. surface indications are good, a strong quartz ledge can be traced for nearly a mile. The owner has done considerable prospecting, but has not enough money to prove the value of the property from a mining standpoint. He has never had _a competent engineer report on it. Still the man is completely sold on his “mine.” He believes there is a million dollars worth of gold in it. So he advertised his mine for sale and when the investigators called and became interested, he got an exagerated idea of the value of his mining claims. He was asked how much he wanted forthe claims. He replied “$5000 down and $70,000 in five years.’’ Those few words have continually driven capital away from the property. If the man would give an option for a reasonable period of time, with a payment at the end of that period, he’ would have a chance to sell his mining claims and make a good profit for himself. As a rule there is no objection to the total price, it is the first payment that is the sticking point. No man in his right mind is going to pay a substancial . down payment on a mere prospect. The holder of an option has enough work and expense on his hands to develop the property without adding a down payment to the burden. The fact that a great many mining property holders ask for a down payment is steering money away from their property and holding back the development of Nevada county. Let us hope that before this natural gold boom in Nevada -county dies out that these “‘down payment asking” property holders get next to themselves and give capital a fair and square break. If they do, enough of our mines will be developed to such a stage that Nevada county will be prosperous whether a depression is on or not. MUST FORCE TAX REDUCTION > One of the most encouragng phases of the late campaign ‘was the attitude taken by the majority of candidates for public office toward the cost of government and the need for tax reduction. President-elect Roosevelt has stated that a 35 per ‘cent cut is essential and has pledged his efforts toward achieving that. ‘Those elected with him have echoed his views. If such a reduction is made it will have an. amazingly fine effect on the country—not only in the money that will be saved, but in psychological results. There is no question but what the specter of still higher taxes frightens thousands of investors and shoves money into safe-deposit vaults and tea pots; that is prevents business from going ahead and expanding; that it discourages home building and savinigs; that, in this time of uhemployment, it creates more unemployment, more Saidihie acme distress. Every citizen should ee a:sound program to lower “taxes. We can do this by not asking for expenditures that} “touch only a small’ part of the country at the expense of the whole; by taking the broad, rather than the local, view. We can fdlkow up federal reductions by forcing state, county and municipal governments—which aré, the most expensive of all—and public officials to observe the example. In short, the time and the Siestimmt ad for tax reduction are here—and it must be had. ECONOMIC SELF PRESERVATION So far as the farmer is concerned, co-operation is simply another name for economic self-preservation. For more years _ ‘than one cares to count, the average farmer was virtually at the mercy of the buyer. He took whatever price was offered him for his produce, or lost a sale. Then came the beginning of the co-operative movement. Thousands of farmers joined together and created selling or_ ganizations as large and as powerful as the buying organizations. The middleman was no longer talking to a single farwas talking to the authorized representative of a Al over the country co-operative organizations have been progress in time of depression. More and more ave discovered that ce mension: is the eventual so: eee co-operatives are on a firmer foundation today NOTICE OF SALE OF REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY In the Superior Court of the State of California, in and for the County of Nevada. : No. 3074. Chiropractor Nevada Irrégation 138 S. Auburn St. Grass Valley Every cell of the body uses up its own material and throw off poisonous by-products during activity. These by-products, or waste, are very poisonous to the individual cell as weil as to the entire organism. To get rid of this waste is one of the: first duties of the system. One of the commonest results of bodily failure in elimination is a cold. If the cold is severe it may be classed as lagrippe, or when it is extreme it is pneumonia. There are four great sources of eHmination. The lungs strain carbonic acid from the blood and throw. it out With every expiration. They exhale other noxious matter from the system. The alimentary tract throws off the Waste matter from the} food we eat, getting rid of the nonnutritous. as well as indigestible foods. The kidneys strain out urea and certain other poisons from the blood and these poisons are thrown off through the urinary tract. to name the fourth is an organ of elimination. Through its pores gaseaus and fluid waste. * When any of these four means of elimination becomes impaired in its activity the sufferrer becomes a fit subject for Chiropractic spinal adjustments. The underactivity of elimination in any direction is dangerous. When poisons accumulate more rapidly than they can be eliminated, a breakdown in health is as certain as neglect. A cold is the commonest manifestation of under elimination and Chiropractic spinal adjustments usually makes short shift of this common ailment. When under elimination is neglected and becomes chronic it is a forerunner of such wasting and painful disease as tuberculoisis and rheumatism. Keeping the organs of elimination active and efficient by means of Chiroyractic spinal adjustments is a way to health and long life.
