The evack Cofnty Historica
Society colurfin, beginning with
this account. of the Library Committee will again be featured
weekly in the .Nugget. The reading public is urged to send in
items having to do with ‘events,
episodes and colorful charagters
of Nevada County history.
That committee work is the
backbone of the Nevada County
Historical Society, is proven in
this article about the work of the
Library Committee, headed by
Bernice ~Glasson.
Without committees, the whole
structure of the Historical Society would collapse. Monthly
programs are designed ‘to entertain the members at large, but
the committee chairmen ‘and
their group form the foundation
of the’ Society in -collecting,
studying and preserving the real
histoxyy of the county.
Doris Foley, president of the
Historical Society, urges members who have not already joined
a committee to do so. The Library group needs sub-chairmen,
typists and typewriters in getting material in readiness for the
Centennial program next year.
Members wishing to , join this
committee may phone Mrs. Kallenberger, Nevada City 520-J, or
Miss Glasson, Grass Valley 251.
The work’ of the Library Committee has. been divided into -the
following sub-committees:
i: Bibliography Committee:
Sub-chairmen, Mrs. Goodell. Sherman and Mrs, Audrey Weselsky.
As. an aid to research workers
and to the reading public in general, an index file of historical
books, titles, and: names :of authors is being compiled for the
Nevada City and Grass Valley
libraries. A notation will be
made on each card, giving a brief
review of the “book, and where
it may be found. This_ bibliography ,will be checked with the
publicand ‘private libraries of the
county,
II. Library Shelf Committee,
Grass Valley Library, Miss Bernice Glasson;° Nevada City Library and,Museum Library, Mrs.
