TALKED. ABOUT
Another strike of high grade ore
‘has been uncovered the past week according to reports reaching The Nugget from Grass Valley but operators
of the property have not confirmed
or denied the report.
Strikes are becoming so frequent
in this section of late that they are
getting quite commonplace and fail
to create more than a ripple. This
strike with that of the recent Idaho

TRUST SAVING ACCOUNTS
POPULAR SAYS CURNOW
Advertising brings business to
‘banks just as it does to other busiiness concerns,
‘A. Curnow, manager of the local
ibranch of the United Security Bank
and Trust Company, who bases_his
‘belief on a report made to him by
Jw. A. Seher of the head office force
Mr: Seher is in town in connection
'with the local campaign of the bank
ifor Trust Fund Savings accounts.
. “Mr Seher reports” said Mr. Curnow, ‘“* that since the bank began to
advertise this Trust Fund Account,
which has been the subject of a
series of widely printed advertisements during the past few weeks,
hundreds of these accounts ‘have
been opened ,and many of them have
been in sums as large as ten or
twenty thousand dollars; but we'll
gladly start one with a dollar deposit
for any who wish.
“The trust Fund Account is a
; simple and well tested type of account, bearing the usual interest,
controled entirely by the depositor
during his life, . but passing at his
. death without any fuss or delay to
lany person he names as_ beneficiary. The beneficiary has no rights
during the life of the depositor, who
can close the account, or do anything else with it he wants to. The
effect of the trust to-do away with
probate in small cash estates, and to
greatly simplify it in larger ones.
“Many of the thrifty of California
did not know about this
found it out, we are opening these
accounts in every office. We have a
‘quota here, and are working tofill
it, so that this offi¢e may do its
share to help its patrons safeguard
their dependents against the financial
troubles that might otherwise harass
them at a time when death would
make such a condition doubly burdensome.”’

WATER FOR SAN
‘JUANRIDGE FOR
~ COMING SEASON
But little remains to be done on
the North Bloomfield ditch system
between Bowman and the various
storage reservoirs from North Columbia to French Corral for next
season’s supply of water for irrigation and domestic uses which will be
welcome news to the residents of
that section of the county who have
been dependent on the wells and
springs for a couple of years.
Five hundred inches of water is
now flowing as faras the Gaston
and Ancho mines for their use and
next year it is expected to bring a
supply down the Ridge in addition
to this as the water for the mines
is not available. after beinb used.
This has made possible the opening
of these two mining properties this
year and helping to make it possible
for the San Juan people to make repairs to the flume and ditch so that
it could be put inte use again after
being dry for two years.
{
There yet remains to be raised,
approximately $3650 to pay off the
labor and material bills incurred,
reports Chairman Sam McCullough:
The total cost of theimprovement is;
between $5000 and $6000 of which

portion and which in reality made
it possiblé for the work to proceed

Baese ae Association also made
