MANY MINES GET EQUIPMENT FROM MINERS FOUNDRY The Miners Foundry, pioneer firm in Nevada City, continues to handle large orders for ore cars and mine Machinery from different parts of California. Ten of the Edinger specially ¢onstructed side dump ore cars were shipped Tuesday to the Monarch Mining corporation or Vanadium Steel Corporation at Bishop. This corporation purchased 20 of these cars several weeks aga sending a huge truck here for the fot. A 100-ton cyanide plant has been purchased by the Forest Hill Divide mine, property east of Auburn in charge of A. D. Hadsell.The King Gillett property (safety razor interests) adjoins the Forest Hill Divide ground. The Red Cross mine near Dobbins bought a 50 ton cyanide plant, within the last few weeks. The foundry has been revamping cleaning the set up and installing a jiggz and amalgamation equipment at the Black Oak mine in Garden Valley. Russell Wilson is owner of this little high grade. property. Installation of the 85 foot all-steel head frame at the Scotia shaft on the Golden Center property was completed within the last few days. o WAS FOUND BY FINNEY It is interesting to learn that the largest gold nugget ever found in tthe United Staltes and ‘the third largest in the world was discovered by G. G. Finney in 1853 near Downieville. It weighed 5,000 ounces, valued at $84,302 and contained only three per cent of foreign matter (quartz). It had the form of a pair of dumbells and in getting it out with his pick Finney broke the link connecting the two bells. It was taken to San Francisco and a steel strap was riveted to the link.
