Hoge’s Horehound Honey
In the morning, at the moment when
the rich horehound flower, (slumbering under the penetrating dew exhaled by its divine master, father and
lover—the sun) awakes and returns to
consciousness, struck by a sympathetic beam it no longer resists—it gives np
the softened essence of its choicest
sweetness; it becomes, as it were, a
tiny fountain, which distils this wonderjul honey, drop by drop! Opportunely comes the Samaritan bee; its
work is to gather the sweet treasure,

NEVADA CITY,
Next door to Geo. E. Turner’s
Hardware Store,Where we offer to the Trade and the peo
Je in general, our own production of the
Best and purest, hand-made, Copper Distilled Corn Whiskey that was ever placed
upon the market of the Pacific Coast. Not
like the Colored foctored ChemicaledDropsical-Pap-Skull, so called Whiskey that
now fleodsthe country, but the genuine,
erystalized juice of the Native California
Grown Corn. It is as pure and clear as the
sweet sparkling mounta‘n water, of which
Nevada andthe adjoining counties may 80
justly aud proudly boast. ‘
Why should Whiskey be colored, when its
original, natural state is perfectly clear?
Is it to suit the fancy of some imaginary
being that never existed, or is it like the
masque worn by the \
HIGHWAYMAN
For base deception? These are questions
for the common sense people of California
to answer, and decide whether or not they
will continue the use of impure Whiskey,
and with Drop-y be carried to a premature
sravé. If youuse absolutely straight Whiskey, such us we offer forsale, it wi'l add
vears tu your lease of life, rather than reduce them,
We preferto build up an honest, legitimate trade of Pure
WHISKEY
rhat -will stand the fire test, as it were.
Therefore, do not be surprised when you
sample our Whiskey and find it as
CLEAR AS GLASS.
It being clear doés not make it Gin, by any
means. We don’t want anything to do with
tampered Whiskey, neither should any other person want anything to do with it.
We most respectfully solicit trade from
the retail dealers and the family bottle trade
of the community, which shall rece:ve our
prompt and honest attention.
Knowing our mission is fillinga long felt
need in the country we leave It with the people to say whether they prefer pure Whiskey or adulterated stuff.
We believe that ere long our Whiskey will
be as popular inthis country as were the
Harrison in the late campaign.
