CHEROKEE
—O.
(By J. M . Swazey)
CHEROKEE—HEAD TO KUM
Up in the mountains,’ among the pines;
Up where the wild flowers grow;
Up whre the glorious sun always shines
And the clean sparkling waters flow.
Up where the fields are fresh with dew
And you hear the dull buzz of the bee;
“Up where your neighbors are kind and true
And their favors aré many and free.
Up where the clime is near always the same
Up where the gold flowed free;
is-a town of the forty-niner fame
And they named it, Cherokee.
‘Many old timers have long sinced passed
The families have dwindled to three;
But the work they did—their.memories will last
*Till the end of eternity.
But mines are reviving; they'll have to make room;
They’ll need more houses than three;
For-the opening of mines will make things boom
Once more in old Cherokee.

Beautiful Danish Girls _ i
Every one is interested in the vart.
vous types of girlhood found in the different countries of Europe from the ;
light-hearted Parisian to the shy
Swedish maiden. -The girl you meet
on her bicycle in the streets of Copenhagen and the lass you see In the country dressed in her colorful Hedebo
costume, differ widely in temperament
and looks. It is the latter girl, however, whom the tourist will remember
longest because they combine in their
faces and equipment that rare combination of simple beauty and good .
training for housewifery. If beauty !
contests were held in Denmark there
would not be enough prizes to go
around, yet every beauty knows how
to cook, mend and run a farm.—Ex.
