NIGHT Mr. and Mrs. Max Lantz’ have built a new and modern taven on the site of the old Central House that for many years during stage coach times was a Change station for drivers and stage teams. It was several months ago that Lantz bought the Ski Course and. grounds cbmprising approximately 160 acres on the Washington Ridge nine and a half miles from Nevada City on one of the most scenic spots along the Tahoe-Ukiah highway. The new tavern is built of rounded siding giving the appearance of a log house, and*the architecture is of the kind ity. There is a commodious kitchen for preparing. the food for wayfarers ‘of all kinds, and also for those intimate parties for which the big “front room’ is especially designed. There is room for danting and feasting and a comfortable bar well stocked with potables of all kinds. There are over 45 grammar school children in the little city. Several pupils who have completed grade school have been walking two and a half miles to Forest where they attended a branch high school. The new building will be a great convenience to them. Deep snows and cold weather make it hard back and forth to school at Forest. L. W. Cheney of Oakland was a Nevada City visitor this week.
