McCarl, for fifteen years United States, has retired because of the expiration of his term of office. The Controller General of the eontroller’s duty is to judge all expenditures of the government asto their legality. Mr. McCarl, has made a public Barement as to the condition of the Nited States so fas as it is concerned with government finances, He States that his actions in the past Na and his attitude now is not eifected by personal or political bias. Here are Mr. McCarl’s conclussions:The public debt is menacingly high, over $34,000,000,000 and it will be $35,000,000,000 before anything can be done about it.
