Football
Focus
For those of you that really know
the game of football, the subject of
the formation used by. your favorite
school or professional team is an oft
discussed topic. Single wing, double
wing, box, short punt, T. X Y. & W.
There are many to choose from and
as you know many famous coaches
are identified by certain systems.
One outstanding example is Pop
Warner and his famous Warner system used for decades by many coaches
all over this foobtall loving country.
The other day Pop made the statement that the Warner system if adopted in conjunction with the wide open
style of today would, or at least could,
be extremely effective.
Your writer is currently .coaching
a high school in the San Joaquin
League andi.as any coach will gladly
reconfirm one of the most popular questions that confront football tutors is,
‘what system or formation do you
plan to use?’ 1 personally. am an
exponent of the theory. that.it is. more

In other words keep them guessing.
The principle explained above can
also be applied to linemen. They

Well, so much for today’s coaching
school, no doubt many of you have no
special interest in making the first
team but are more interesed in making money, and I don’t mean on your
own press. -Regarding that valuable

one could save enough to pay for’ a

The *49ers supported the men of the

L. A. Dons, but I dare say the management aged a little during the
process.
It won’t be long now before all my
forecasts and previews will be proven
or squelehed, however, despite the results we are all in for a wonderful
year for football, be it high school,
college or professional.
