Errol MacBoyle, Idaho Maryland Mines Co., Grass Valley J. _E McFarland, Pulga. f George B Ackerman, Sacramento, MINERAL STATISTICS FROM NEARBY STASES Mineral statistics compiled by the United States Department of Commerce just released for the states of Nevada, and New Mexico show a production of 175,157.79 fine ounces of gold, 5,481,574 fine ounces of silve and 158,876,883 pounds of copper for the state of Nevada with a total value of $31,033,776. . This is an increase over the previous year. New Mexico shows a gold productin of 32,912.41 fine ounces with a value of $680,360, an increase of $75,877 over the previoy,s year. The silver production was 827,793 fine ounces, a decrease from , the previous = SKIP JUMPS TRACK AT SIXTEEN TO ONE MINE A.skip jumping the track was the cause of the death of Roland Gardner in the shaft of the Sixteen te One property at Alleghany last week. The skip was loaded with drill steel and when the car left the track ore of the drills pierced his sroin causing injuries from which he soon passed away. Deceased was 21 years of age and had been a resi dent of Alleghany for the last six years, Suviving are the parents liying in the east, and two brothers, John and Otto of Alleghany. SCHOOL TAX REDUCED BY LOCAL TRUSTEES: Tax payérs in the Nevada City elementary and high school district will pay 15 cents less taxes per hundred than they did last year which will be welcome news at this time when the tax collectors «are abroad in the land to recieve funds for the administration of public affairs. This will make taxes lower for people in Nevada City this year, as the county rate was increased but 2 cents to offset decreased valuations. The properties have never been actively worked since the Sawyer decision of 1883 restricting placer operations on the Yuba watershed but it is estimated lying injthe gravels yet untouched. He had been on an expedition to the Bea River section some days previous nd had been taken with a fainting spell, and was for some hours lost until searching parties sent out ond located him. Funeral services were held Sunday ajfiernoon and were largely attended. Griffiths was one of the most popula men in the coun:, for his many activities.
