~these reunions ' we did not have those in attendance * THE NEVADA CITY_ CITY NUGGET CALIFORNIA, 2 FRENCH CORRAL IT : FRENCH CORRAL, Sept. 14, (Special to TheNugget)— Well, wasn’t it great!!—The San Juan . Ridge Reunion Picnic We are still . talking about it and yet have hardly come to a semicolon. An ideal day, an ideal spot, an ideal company, and an ideal stew! It exceeded all expectations. and we are so pleased that we intend -to make an annual or probably a semi-anuual event. Such. happiness it was to meet and greet old friends and talk over the ‘‘old days’”’ One thing we overlooked, however, register, but we can probably get names yet and place them in a register .We said Taber’s ranch but the picnic spot where was held the late in the exact Mr and Mrs. J. D. Morris had lived for nearly forty years. The house was burned down several years ago. The stately pine and oak trées surrounding the spot make it just ideal for a picnie ground, and would you believe it one rose bush that certainly must have gone through the fire, and has for at least fifteen years been uncared for is there’ giving to the breeze the fragrance of its pretty roses It seemed a memorial hands that had planted-it over fifly years ao. Both Mr and Mrs. pone were pioneers of the “‘50’s’’. Well, back to that picnic. Oh wiite to the it was such a happy time! Altho no’ ~program had been prepared, an impropmtu Noyes and one was given . Messrs. Manwell of Yuba county the cause we have most Water on the San Juan and .one of our own “boys” spoke of at heart Ridge! Bill: Twambly, who’ was born and réised in: Nopch San Juan: and: is now a practicing attcrney in San Fianeisco, was there to speak for us, and Mrs. F. Rundy of’ Sacramento, who in girlhood was Mary MeNichols, and is a native of Moores Flat, and attended school and taught school on the San Juan Ridge read a very sweet poem, which she wrote on inspiration the night before, after reading. in The Nugget the write up of our reunion. We would like to get the lines for publication and maybe Mrs Rundy will: consent to this later. They were so appropriate and certainly appreciated by all Ridgites Well, we could go on teiking about that reunion until we would take up all The Nugget space. We must not forget to state that a collection was taken up on the grounds, to which all responded generously, and the sum of $65.00 was realized in this way. Well, ing let’s see who has been comand going this week: Bill Moulton of Forest City visited relatives in French Corral Friday .
