After installing an additional pump
of 500 gallons per minute capacity
and all other equipment required
for expeditious and economical op‘erations, Mr. Lindberg has put three
shifts of miners to work deepening
the two-compartment vertical shaft
on the Douglar Flat property. This
shaft revealed the bedrock at a depth
of 98 feet. Pay gravel was simultaneously found by the previous operators, who, finding the bedrock
dipping to the west on a 45-degree
angle, continued the shaft down to
the 129-foot point. At that depth
the bedrock was found to be still
dipping sharply and a heavy flow of
water was encountered.
The present operators are continuing the shaft down from the 129foot point an additional. 65. feet,
which will give the bore a total
vertical depth of 194 feet from the
surface. When the new objective
point is reached, a crosscut, it is
stated, will be extended to determine
the dip of the bedrock at that horizon. If found favorable for lateral
exploration, a drift will be advanced
750 feet northeasterly on bedrock
the adjoining Baldhead mine, which,
giously in placer gold nearly a half
century ago. A pump of 350 gallons
capacity on the 129-foot level of the
shaft is at present lifting 325 gallons of water a minute to the surface, it is stated. The 500-gallon
pump has: been placed in position
for emergency us and to keep the
‘shaft free of water during current
sinking operations. In addition to
its complete mining equipment, the
property has a gravel washing mill
capable of handling from 240 to
350 tons daily. All equipment is
electrically operated.
Under a lease and bond from the
