GOVERNOR HEADS
COMMITTEE FOR
HOMELESS BABES
With Eafl Warren as
”
Governor
chairman of the advisory board, the
. Central Committee on Homeless
‘Children, Native Sons and Natjve
Daughters of the Golden West this
week made its second annual appeal
to the public for support of its 63
years old adoption service for homeTess children.
Until last year this state licensed
service was supported entirely within the ranks of the two pioneer organizations_of—California—born--men
and women. However, the rapid war
time growth of the state has greatly increased the number of homeless
abies for whom foster parents must
be found, according to Hazel B. Hansen, Past Grand President of «che
(Native Daughters and chairman’ of
the Central Committee’s campaign.
‘Furthemore the cost of caring for
the children prior to their final
adoption has trebled and even quadrupled, placing upon the committee
a financial burden too great to be
borne without general public support Mrs. Hansen further points out.
Thousands of (Californians this
week received sheets of homelass
fbabies stamps which they are asked
to purchase as a contrbiution to the
worthwhile cause. The stamps, used
on outgoing correspondence, als.
help focus public attention upon the
need for finding suitable homes with
foster parents for the scores of orPhans, halp orphans and children
from broken homes with the general
committee is called upon to help.
