Little Patrica Elizabeth Devine, 9
years old daughter of Mrs. Victoria
of San Francisco, formerly
Miss Victoria Cassano of this place,
pased away Tuesday afternoon at
the bay city, death being caused by
the after’ effects of scarlet fever,
leaving her with a weak heart.
She is survived by a loving mother, Mrs. Victoria Devine, and a
young brother, Tommy Devine, and
a number of aunts and uncles, and
other relatives. Mr. and Mrs G. B.
Cassano of Oak Valley were her
grandparents. ;
Funeral services were held Thursday morning at San Francico interment being made at Holy Cross
cemetery
The monthly contest between the
two athletic teams of the Camptonville high school ended last week.
The Golds won, so the Blacks gave
them a party, which was enjoyed at
the Masonic hall on Friday afternoon,
Mr and Mrs. James A. Taylor of
Nevada City accompanied by their

The hunting season opened with
a bang Monday with the woods full
of hunters. Camptonville and adjoining country has become a mecca
for deer huters every year, the number increasing each season, and,
strange to say, the deer likewise
apparently increasing although last
season fifty horned beauties fell
betore the sportsmans gun.

from Nevada City where he spent a
couple of days on business.

JUDGMENT GIVEN IN
YUBA COUNTY COURT
In the shortest-lived action in the
history. of the Yuba County Superior court, the Yuba Consolidated
Gold Fields Company was given
judgment against the Nevada Irrigation District quieting title to the
waters of the Yuba River flowing
Past the eastern end of the comPpany’s gold fields near Hammonton.
The action was filed shortly after
the clerk’s office opening and within an hour Judge McDaniel had}
rendered the judgment.
Under the judgment the irrigation district
verting any of the natural flow of .
the South and Middle Foks or any .
other tributaries of Yuba River at
any time when the natural flow at.
the eastern end of the gold com-.
Pany’s lands and at the intake of
the company’s irrigation ditches
falls. below the amount sufficient
to supply it with the continuous
flow to which plaintiff is entitled,
and also to supply such additional
flow as may lawfully be diverted } .
by other. lower Yuba River water
users under appropriation prior to
those of plaintiff and defendant.
Provision, however, is made that
the decree shall not be operated at
such time as the defendant, although diverting waters from the
tributaries of Yuba River, shall be
retuning to Deer Creek or other
tributaries, an amount of water
equal to or exceeding the amount!
of such contemporaneous diversion,
and provision is also made that the
decree hall not apply to the éxercise by defendant of any vested
rights to the waters of Yuba River
which may heretofore ‘have been,
or hereafter be acquired by defendant, if such rights are prior to
