Mr. Sehwartz’s friends seemed to be vicing with each other to cast first vote Mr. Schwartz was there greeting all alike with his hearty handshake and friendly smile. The old Watt house _was Burned Friday morning early. Mr. and .Mrs. Clark, who live there now lost every thing. Miss: Molly Brown, -an aunt of Mrs.-Clark, nearly lost: her Hfe in the flames. Mr. Clark missed her and on looking through the window saw her lying in: the oom which was a mass of flames. He pulled her thru the window, but was badly schorched in doing so. A popular Francisco way to travel to San is by the night boats on the Sacramento tiver operated by the California Transportation Company, every night except Sunday. The Pickwick Stage leaving Nevada City at 5:15 p. m. makes direct connection at Sacramento with the boat leaving at 6:30 and arriving at San Francis. rooms are availabe and fine cuisine is afforded. The night ride down the Sacramento river is a never to be forgotten experience to one who has not enjoyed it. Sawyer and daughter, Miss Dorothy, made a trip to French Corral. Friday. He was summoned to attend Mrs. J. D. Morris, who was suffering from the . result of a fall she had a few days before. It was found she had broken a. rib. After giving the necessary treatment, she was taken to the Nevada City Sanitarium. Mr. Hooper assistant to Mr. Holmes, accomapnied by Miss Peterson of the Nevada City Sanitarium came with the ambulance to take Mrs. J. D. Morris to the Sanitarium. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Moulton made atrip to North Bloomfield Friday evening to bring their daughter, Miss Louise home for the week’s end. Miss Louise reports being very much pleased with her school at that place, y3 Mrs. Grace Olive and her cousin, Miss Mary Maloney, of Santa Rosa are spending some time at the home of their aunt, Mrs. Franciscovich.
