S. Clack and L. L. Stine were Nevada‘ City visitors Wednesday. Mr. Clack has the option.on the Giant . Kine mine in the Washington districte A erew of men have reopened the road to the mine and are cleaning out old workings. Three tunnels on the property are in 600 feet, 900 feet and 1200 feet. Mr. Clack stated it was 900 feet from the lowest to the highest tunnel which will give the company a large amount of backs to mine. He also stated there is an estimated 100,000 tons of ore in sight which assays well and a mill is to be installed as soon as possible. The property was operated 30 years ago by the almalgamation process. Newer methods give better values. The company was’ incorporated last week under-the name of Giant King Gold Mines. Plans of the new company are to work the mine all winter. The proposed new road to Washington will pass within a few feet of the mouth of the tunnel. It. was learned Mr. Clack is operating mines at Randsburg and a quicksilver mine at Lovelock, Nev. FIRE IN EUER VALLEY BURNS OVER 400 ACRES Supervisor DeWitt Nelson of the Tahoe National Forest, and his fire fighters halted the Euer Valley fire near Truckee Wednesday. It burned over approximately 400 acres in a red fir belt. The ground had been logged over, but there was a heavy new growth that was destroyed. At the height of the fire there were 375 men on therfire lines practically all being CCC boys. A fire was reported in at 2:30 o’clock ‘Wednesday morning from Camptonville where it is stated a careless smoker had started a fire. It covered six acres before being brought “under control by Ranger Frank Meggers and crew stationed at Camptonville. Nevada City residents noted huge clouds of smoke on the western horizon Wednesday and it was found it was a big fire burning between Browns Valley and Dobbins in Butte county. Mr. and Mrs. Ward Sheldon were business visitors in San Francisco
