SACRAMENTO, Gasoline sales throughout California continued to break records during the month of August, the State Board of Equalization reported. On the basis of the sale of 173,9£5,089 gallons of gasoline, a tax of $5,206,382.67 was levied by the board, a gain of $282,299.94 or 5.73 per cent over the same month of the previous year.
