SCOUTS PLANNING DRIV
AUBURN: Plans for the forthcoming Annual Appeal for Funds to be
conducted from October 10 to November 10 were discussed at the meeting
of the Executive Board of the Tahoe
Area Council, Boy Scouts of America,
held last week.
A report on summer camp at Camp
Pahatsi was given by L. H. Reynolds,
camping chairman. He indicated that
there had been a gain of 57 per cent
more Scouts in attendance over last
year and that the camp had been
highly successful this year.
Other reports were made by H. E.
Chastain on organization and extension; Dr. P. D. Barnes, health and
safety; W. S. Cluff, treasurer; Lynne
Kelly, finance; and Raymond J.
Ewan, scout executive. Judge Lowell
L. Sparks, eouncil president, presided
at the meeting. ;
The date of the annual Scout Rally
was officially moved up to the last
week in November by action of the
board. This was in response to the
request on the part of Scoutmasters
for this activity to be scheduled earlier in the year.

Tennis, Maury Witting,, Lynne Kelly,
all of Grass Valley; John Raffetto, E.
V. Cain, -H. E. Chastain, W. S. Cluff,
Lowell L. Sparks, L. H. Reynolds and

of America, has announced the need
for additional work parties at Camp
Pahatsi in order to complete the needCITIZENS COMPLAIN —

GRASS VALLEY: The city council,
holding its last meeting for September, received a petition from residents
of Shady Pine Court and also from
those ottside the city, asking that the
gas tank farm just outside the city
limits be considered a public menace.
The board stated that further
study would be. given the matter.
Sincé the plant is located outside the
city. limits, the board said, the city
attorney, William J. Cassettari, will
determine whether or not the plant is
dangerous to neighboring dwellings,
and if so finding, will submit the
problem to the county supervisors.
