Bill Rickard— Bill. Rickard son.of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rickard of Gold Flat, wrote the following letter to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allen of Boulder Street, this city last week. Dear 'Folks—Here’s just a friendly letter. I saw Bob’s name in the paper so thought I’d write and tell what I’m doing. I have done lots of traveling since I left Nevada City in January. From Monterey I went to Florida for three weeks. From there I went to Chanute Field, Illinois for three months. In June I came here . 20 months, receiving promotion and ‘is in line for more. He looks fine ‘and has had a most interesting ex' perience in his life at sea. He has I’m almost geeting used to it, but I'm afraid I can never like the desert. (Cactus and sage brush and _ dust storms can never take the place of ty view, its the same flat ground seen from the same level. I’m really looking forward to my furlough in October. Elton “Bub” Tobiassen— ‘Sheriff and Mrs. Carl Tobiassen received a message the latter part of last week that their son, Elton, was quite ill at Winchester: Bay and are awaiting further word from him. Corp. Carl Tobiassen, U. S. M. C.— ‘Carl Tobiassen received his promotion to corporal in August. He is still in camp -in Southern California where he is instruetor in athletics in Camp Mathews, San Diego. . Corporal Ainsley Fouyer U. S. M. C. Corp. Ainsley Fouyer, marine in be up and around. I wonder if he will stay over there after the war is over., They sure won’t seé me in any of those overseas countries after this war is over. The good old U. Mullin property on Reward Street for their future home. There is a home, garage, chicken pens and some acreage. Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Mullin, who sold their property on Reward St. recently have purchased the two story building -on Prospect, street known as the old Hugh ‘Murchie house. It will be used as a rental property. Les Hubbard, former local police officer; now in the U. S. Navy on Treasure Island, spent the past week end in Nevada City visiting his wife and son. Mrs. Lucille Krough, and daughter of Sacramento is enjoying a visit with Miss Fernande Muller of Nevada City.
