contract and mah jongg ..were enjoyed. There were twenty seven
tables in all besides a number of
guests who enjoyed the afternoon at.

cards.
The committee in charge of the
parties were Mrs. C. E. Parsons,
Mrs. O. McCraney, Mrs. Chas. Washburn, Mrs. Leonard Foote, Mrs. Anita Locklin, Mrs. Robert Nye, and
Mrs. Bessie Treglown.
TO MEET HIGHWAY ENGINEERS
James O’Brien of Smartville was
in Nevada City Wednesday in the
.interests of the Tahoe-Ukiah highway. He interviewed President Frea
E. Conner of the Chamber of Commerce in regard to a meeting of
state highway engineers in Sacramento, Friday, September 11. Mr.
Conner urges the supervisors, and
all persons interested in the road to
attend this meeting.

Laké Louise the end of a cloudburst was encountered, and during
the night a mud slide struck their
coach delaying the train several
hours.
