Mrs. Pearl Beeman of Grass Valley was arrested by State Liquor Tax
Administrator R. B. Farley of Nevada City, Sheriff. C. J. Tobiassen
and Chief of Police John Fontz on
Saturday evening on charges of selling whiskey without a state board
of equalization license, and possessjon of untaxed liquor. The officers
confiscated a quantity of wine, beer,
and home brew, which was untaxed.

The North San Juan Ridge Improvement League is jubilant. Plenty
jubilant. And all this jubilation
because their new Twamley Hall is
actually in existence and has a first
class dance floor. The League has
just celebrated a grand fiesta, and
they are Planning other big affairs
as the winter progresses. The bids
are. N0W open for the immense roof
over Twamley Hall and so far everything in old North San Juan looks
as bright as a new dollar.
And in ‘this jubilant mood the
League is going to celebrate a Fall
Jubilee by the Way of a downright
g00d old dance, in Twamley Hall,

right is NOT permitted on the open
highway, but only on city streets of
sufficient width for two or more
lanes of traffic in each direction. An
exception permits passing on _ the
right, on highways as well as the
streets, when overtaking a vehicle
which is making or is about to make
a left turn.
Rules for passing on laned highways have been made more specific.
Drivers on laned. highways are: required to keep in the right hand. lane
as continusuouly as ig practicable,
using the center lane or lanes only
for passing. For example, confusion
has existed concerning three-lane
highways. It is now made clear that
the center lane shall be’.used for
passing only.
