Believed despondent over unrequitted love she swallowed an arsenic potion last Friday afternoon and died Sunday despite efforts of Grass Valley physicians to save her life, She was married to John Valceschini about a year and a half ago. It was east of Sheridan in rough country and she had placed a piece of gauze and a'‘portion of her dress on brush to indicate the location. (Miss Frances Davey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Davey of Nevada City has left to take up her new work in the Santa Barbara schools, Miss Davey has taught in the Santa Maria schools: for several years and was transferred and promoted by the superintendent of schools to the new position. Her school starts September 12. Mr. and Mrs. Al Williams had.as Saturday guests Mrs. Williams niece and nephew, Mr.’ and Mrs. Barr of. Placerville. They were married in Reno in the forenoon and stopped in Nevada City on their way home. She will be remembered here as the former Miss Dorothy Watkins. The forest service has just recently inStalled a windcharger, and by hooking it up with a storage battery, light and radio power is available at all times. A. Guepin, executive vice president of the Shell Oil company and wife and party were overnight guests at the National Hotel in Nevada City last night. They will visit mines in the Alleghany district today among them being the mine of Ted LeMaire. Plans are to go too Lake Tahoe from there as Mrs. Guepin has not seen much of California. The Guepins came from Europe about six months ago.
