Whether business can be lifted bodily into considerably higher sales volume brackets before next year however, depends pretty much on three factors, economists point out: 1. HUGE CHARITY JAMBOREE OPENS GRASS VALLEY, The big charity Carnival Grass Valley Jamboree, which opened last night, runs for three more nights, under the sponsorship of the Hague Thomas Hegarty Post 130, the American Legion, was thronged with spectators and merry makers. More than one hundred residents of Grass Valley participated in the Gaiety Theatre, with its 12 acts of vaudeville and the 20 shows and concessions that are arranged on the site in the rear of the Veterans building. The show grounds are packed with entertainment and concession booths are under the personal management of the local legion post. The show lot is a glittering midjway and is entirely inclosed within an eight foot circus sidewall, with a beautiful modernistic entrance extending 60 to the show lot. Lavish sets, gorgeous costumes, costumes, brilliant music, expert dancing and singing along with clever comedy characterize the Gaiety Theatre show, one of the high lights of the midway and is all made up of local talent with the exception of the director Jon Zerby and his lovely dancing partner Jewel.Layton and Leanna Lux, a former headliner over the major circuits of the country, who is giving her talents, while visiting to help the legion show. Each night a free attraction ‘will be offered on the rocket ladder, an impressive apparatus that towers 60 feet above the’ ground, the highest free swinging ladder in the world, The Canter-a-Long and the Ferris wheel run full blast every night.
