FOREWORD IND Mother Nature was certainly in one of her extreme m of munificence when she created this section of the Golden State. The lovers of nature and scenery will find within the borders of this political subdivision a variety of opportunities to indulge their favorite pastime. Then, casting your gaze a thousand feet below, where Nature in one of her barbaric moods has cut titanic gashes through the mountains, you hear the distant rumbling of a river churning its waters white with foam as they dash through the canyons, Gazing westward, just beyond, you can sce gentle sloping foothills clothed in blankets of pines, and where the low THE MIDDLE YUBA RIVER BRIDGE YOU CAN HEAR THE ROAR OF THE RIVER 1000 FEET BELOW hills blend into valleys and dales, the river appears to loiter, in a lazy, tranquil quietness, on its journey to the sea. _ If you prefer the wild magnificence of the mountains you will find a wide selection to choose from around Truckee, Nevada County's gateway to California.
