t~—t A CORNER OF NEVADA COUNTY'S LAKE DISTRICT AS SEEN FR Memorial Park is the city of Grass Valley's contribution to the memory of those who in the World War gave their “tomorrows” to their country. More than 400 men served in the World War from this locality, of whom sixteen did not return, and in their memory a beautiful shrine has been erected in the park with the names of the revered dead preserved in bronze. Memorial Park has a splendid swimming pool, modernly equipped playground for the children, tennis courts, large athletic field, a community house, wherein you may entertain your friends; and—most important of all to the traveler—a spick and span automobile camp ground with shelter houses which contain running water, gas plates and tables. At Nevada City the people have installed a picturesque free auto park for tourists near the center of the city, There are found, shelter houses, shade, pure water, and a cordial welcome. In a word, this region is a perpetual invitation and delight to OM AN AEROPLANE the pavement-weary people of the great cities. One suggestion: Don’t be in too great a hurry, Arrange to stay a week or a month. Thus, you will absorb something of the spirit and romance of our region and come to love it, even as do we natives. Away back in our innermost minds most of us have a longing affection for nature's glacial sculptured hills, and we love to dream about play on their broad slopes. Probably you have listened to the call of the high country and maybe it recalled a scene of your youth where you played, beneath uncast skies, in a country left as nature fashioned it. Do not let your mindpicture of those happy childhood days be considered only as a pleasant memory!
