CITIZEN DRIVING TAKES CARE..andwiththe New Year's weekend approaching, officials in Nevada County from various traffic and judicial agencies warn against carelessness. This accident was aresult of reckless drivingon the Grass-Valley-Nevada City highway shortly before Christmas. The car, driven by 19-year-old Benjamin Arthur Wilson, Colfax, clipped a telephone pole .and came to rest on its side on Zion street, near the Nevada Union Tunior High School. Wilson and a passenger fought their way from the scene of the accident. Wilson later had to be subdued in order to transport him toa hospital. Guilty of reckless driving, hit andrun driving involving property damage and driving with a revoked license, the driver was sentenced by Judge Verle Gray oasix month jail term, a $79 fine, and restitution to PG&E and the telephone company as well as to Nevada City for damage to the city's fire alarm system. NC Druggist Dies From Bad Heart George Halstead 44, of the G and H Pharmacy, Nevada City, suffered a fatal heart attack Monday at his North San Juan ranch. Halstead is survivied by his wife, Charlotte; five children Cathy, George, John, Richard and Jerry; his mother, Mrs. Eva Halstead of Alhambra; and a brother, Charles Halstead of Sacramento. Anative of Colfax, Placer county, Halstead was born Oct. 4, 1915. Most of ‘his boyhood was spent in Foresthill, Placer county, and his family later moved to Alhambra.
