Burning Permit Restriction
Lifted After Xmas Storm
The Director of Natural Re
sources, DeWittNelson,
Thursday repealed the proclamation on burning permits, which was adopted November 30, 1959. The proclamation extended the period during which a written
permit from the State Forester was required.
In repealing the proclamation, DirectorNelson
stated that recent rains had
sufficiently abated the fire
hazard conditions which had
existed previously. As aresult of this, burning permits
now are not required under
Section 4153 of the Public
Resources Code.
In commenting on the repeal of the proclamation,
Director Nelsoncautioned
that in some areas there are
local ordinances orregulations in existence which
still require that permits be
obtained. If there is any
doubt concerning local ordinances or regulations, the
local forest or fire agency
should be contacted. He
further pointed out that
county ordinances in Orange,
Riverside, San Diego, San
Bernardino, Los Angeles, and
Ventura in Southern California require permits for
burning on a year-round basis
and people in theseareas
shouldcontact local fire
agencies.
