By DONNA MILHOUS Phone AXtel 2-3207 I may, I can't think of any gala social events or emotional crisis that would be apt tothrow me for at least three weeks, I have a beautiful cold, I even have some pills left over from my last unsuccessful attempt. Now, there it is in writing. I'd appreciate hearing from others who plan on embarking on a new year void of tars andnicotine, and maybe we can help each other. Well, all in all, 1959 was a wonderful year for me and my family, so much so that Ihateto relinquish it. I never have felt like celebrating the loss of the old year and bringing in a new one. t+e¢t+ttet Wehada wonderful Christmas. My parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Archer, and my brother, Alan, arrived from Lindsay about 2:30 a. m. Christmas morning. We speut about an hour arranging toys ‘and presents, and talking, .and went to bed. At4:30 a.m. asnear as we can figure, the kids got up andafter much pleading, promises of coffee and stuff we finally were persuaded to leave the warmth of bed. I thought at the time that it was little dark for 6:30. OH well, why waste precious time sleeping.? Saturday after, friend and one time resident Barbara Kehn arrived from San Fernando and more friends, Pete and Chris De Weber drove up from Sacramento to spend the day. Saturday night a party was held at our home and more friends, Juanita and Pat Patterson and children Chery] and Mark joined us. ++t+ett+ Christmas held some pleasant surprises for Ed and Florence Dulaney. AnunTHE NEW YEAR IS HFERF..and that is about all we are going to say about that because everyone else has done and said everything there is to be said with the the exception..HOW DOES EVERYONE RE ME MBER THAT THE YEAR NOW IS 60.. Allthe checks letters and sale slips are bound tobe scratched on for awhile when we make the transition..and we are no exceptions. .except our expiration dates now goto 61, and we figger we will take about two weeks to get that straightened out to 1961..the joy of a new year. We did get our snow. .if that is what you want to call those few flakes that fell. .but at least we know that Mother Goose still has a few feathers left.. We may say that our weather leaves something to be desired but have you been toSacramento lately..wellthe fog, smog, and dirty greasy rain will sure make you change your mind if you think we have troubles.. OUR GIRL Bucky went on a trek to the southland, and believe it or not..we never knew we could miss an artist so much..but she showed up bright and cheerful last week..and everything is back to normal. We are not thinking too well..the mindis in arut..We didhearthat Emmett Gallegher was in the hospital.. overwork and general fatigue proved almost too much for him.. IF THERE ARE ANY orchids laying about expected visit was paid them byFlorence's sister and family, Marge and Archie Brookhouser and their children, Judy, Gary, andJohnny. Carol and Grant Varner were up from SanRafael. Doanie expects to get a phone call this week..we haven't seen nor heard of them..but we are sure that lots of nice things for other nice people..etc. Perhaps you have noticed that we have gone back to the Editorial We..rather than I..well frankly..between the two, we..I..haven't made up our collective minds which is preferrable..we is for the lesser paid I..for the highly paid and the lowly ignorant..or something of the sort..now, when we (I) make up our Collective minds..andcome to happy medium..perhaps we will because us..there willbe adecision made inOURmind..decisions, Decisions.. DECISIONS.. Since this'is our (my..) day off.. the column is short with nothing much to say.. (Oops..there went another resolution). But anyway, whocan have much to say after what we (I) have been through. Trust that everything is well with you ..(allof you, or possibly..you all. .) Until next week when we (of course it's I) find something that is more worthwhile ..and most of all..when we (can't you see two of us going down the street together..arm in arm..head in head.. and our backs to the wind) get a chance to mingle with the living again..there will be something to say that can interest us all..weall..youall..and MEtoo.
