Couniy ‘Holds Line On Welfare The Nevada County Board of Supervisors, after considerable discussion of the pros and cons of reclassification of positions in the County Welfare Department according to the requirements of the State ‘Board of Social Welfare, voted to take no action at ° this time. The feeling prevailed that toraise the salaries of the positions in the Welfare Department to conform with this requirement, wouldin all fairness call for comparable raises of classification in other departments throughout the county. This would raise the county tax rate by 22 cents, whereas maintaining the status\quo (with the résulting loss of Federal Matching Funds) would mean only a nine cent increase in the tax rate.
