On Welfare
The Nevada County Board
of Supervisors, after considerable discussion of the pros
and cons of reclassification of
positions in the County Welfare Department according to
the requirements of the State
‘Board of Social Welfare,
voted to take no action at °
this time.
The feeling prevailed that
toraise the salaries of the
positions in the Welfare Department to conform with
this requirement, wouldin all
fairness call for comparable
raises of classification in
other departments throughout
the county.
This would raise the county
tax rate by 22 cents, whereas
maintaining the status\quo
(with the résulting loss of
Federal Matching Funds)
would mean only a nine cent
increase in the tax rate.
