appearance in Grass Valley.

AUGUST:
Horse races at Glenbrook.
Big fire at Cherokee. $10,000 loss.
Alonzo Delano of Grass Valley, marries Miss Maria Hammon
at Truckee.
SEPTEMBER:
Alex Gault, who has been living at Lake Tahoe, returns to Nevada
City. (Had bakery at corner of Broad and York streets, Nevada City.)
Episcopal Church in Nevada City being-built.

OCTOBER:
Fire at home of Richard Tully! Nearly all of upper portion considerably burned. (Berggren home on Broad Street, Nevada City.)
Gold strike at Gold Tunnel Mine.
Fire at Voss sawmill! 4,000,000 feet of lumber destroyed!
Swartz home in Pleasant Valley destroyed by fire.

NOVEMBER:
Town of Malakoff between North Bloomfield and Lake City has
office of Bloomfield Gravel and Mining Co., and large hotel kept by
Mr. Pingree for employees.
New school at Bloomfield near completion.
North Bloomfield Gravel Mining Co. purchases controlling interest
in stock of Badger Hill and Cherokee Gravel Mining Co.
Robert McMurray appointed Superintendent of Eureka Lake and
Yuba Canal Company.
Judge Searl’s new brick is about completed. He expects to move
to the new place in course of month.
Tallman Hathaway Rolfe dies!
Old Block presents his play, ‘‘California’’ at Metropolis Theater
in San Francisco.
Thanksgiving dinner to be given at the Nevada Theater for benefit
of M. E. Church.
DECEMBER:
HORACE GREELEY dies!
City of Grass Valley sues Grass Valley Water Company.
Grass Valley Orphanage has 160 children.
Dr. Weaver’s ditch completed.
M. L. & D. Marsh sawmill on Boulder Street running. This mill
is used in winter to fill orders, and Willow Valley sawmill shut down.
