NATIVE SONS The Searls’ Law Office, built of Nevada City brick in 1872, and plastered over
at a later date, will be restored to its original coloring. The iron doors and

LIBR: YY pioneer attorneys. The other rooms will house the Society’s archives, a valuable
source to those seeking Nevada County historical information. This bulletin tells
of the three Searls men who owned the building, Niles Searls, who built it in
1872, his son Fred, who carried on the tradition, and grandson Carroll, who
inherited the building, and whose wish to have it left_as a memorial, {s the
