MINING TUNNEL COMPLETED! A
man can walk from one end to the
other, The entire length of the tunnel
is about 9,000 feet. It is 6 to 8 feet
high, and as many wide. It has taken
two years and a half to drive it, and
the expense has been enormous, The
fluming will be completed in a few
days and the work of washing will then
commence.
The terrible state of the roads is
delaying the arrival of the Colfax
stage every evening. For the past
two or three nights it has been about
an hour behind, and probabilities are
that before long it will be nearly

was a member of the Vigilant Co.,
6017’, recently organized in Truckee,
He was shot on Monday night (Nov, 23)
between 1i and 12 P.M. Shot in the
breast, he died immediately. He was
on guard outside a building and he was
shot from inside. It is supposed by one
of his own party. The feeling in Truck-ee is intense. The body was brought
to Nevada City for burial.
Vincent George Bell, Supt. of the
Milton Ditch and Mining Company at
French Corral, has completed the Milton Ditch as far as Poorman’s Valley
and in another week will have it completed as far as Eureka South. Should
be finished to Moore’s Flat by Dec. 4,
