NOTATION BY LYMAN GILMORE, JR.
A word about the Author, Stephen E. Barber:
Mr. Barber is a native of Berkeley, California,
a current member of the Nevada County Historical
Society. He was a teacher at the Lyman Gilmore
School in Grass Valley when he asked, ‘‘Who was
Lyman Gilmore?’ This was in 1972, and it was
that question that started his absorbing interest
in the life and activities of Lyman Gilmore Jr.
He has researched the life of Lyman Gilmore
for over three years and admits new findings in
a wide area covering all western states.
Mr. Barber plans to compile enough material
to write a biography of our Nevada County Aeronautical Pioneer. He admits this bulletin is a
current report that may be changed as his research
continues, A future California Historical Society
‘Quarterly’? will feature a photographic essay on
Mr. Gilmore. He welcomes any information, photographs, or anything having to do with Lyman Gilmore
Jr. Those with information may write Mr. Barber
in care of the Nevada County Historical Society.
