Railroad Officers At the stockholders
meeting held at Grass Valley, Dr. R.M.
Hunt, of this city was elected as
Director to fill the vacancy of R.W.
Tully, and the balance of the board was
re-elected.

The Odd Fellows throughout the county
are making arrangements to celebrate
Many modes of transportation
were used in 1877 in addition to the
railroad which was serving this
area for the second year. Oxen in
yokes are seen in Grass Valley.
Burros served well in Nevada City
particularly the miners. Single and
double horse drawn buggies and
surries were used by the gentile and
the business man. Nevada City has
it’s suspension bridge over Deer
Creek. Most important was the
harness maker who kept the
vehicles rolling; every town had
in an appropriate and becoming
manner, the fifty-eighth anniversary
of the establishment of the Odd Fellows
in America.

The Nevada Light Guard will have
their annual target practice tomorrow
and every member is expected to be on
hand at 12% o’clock.
July
Night Keys Strange that no Yankee
has ever yet patented magnetized
night-keys, warranted to find their
way to the key-hole. Many lodge
them.
