than the victim of railroad extortions. .
Millions of railroad money have been
spent, and are now being spent, there.
Yet Sacramento newspapers and political wire-pullers, backed by Saeramenin the State. This went on until the
railroad started its own paper,
question as could be desired.

merchants and hotels have fed on
these named counties, and, true to the .
instincts pointed out by Boruck, of
mauling and betraying its frienda, it
is vindictive against the communities .
that spend their earnings inits midst.
Unfortunately forthe miners, their .
purses gave out when their industry
was enjoined. They were wise enough
when flush, to fee the Valley papers,
and then their cause was advocated by
newspapers that probably now hold a
retainer from the other side. Further,

they could not order so liberally. of goods
from the Sacramento merchants, and .
as Sacramento gratitude is entirely an .

the trade yet yielded to Sacramento

Let it go elsewhere by all means.
WETMORBRE’S WINE BILL.
Weare glad to see that Mr. /Wetmore’s spurious wine bill is accepted
by the Legislature. We must have a
pure product at home if we ask that a
spurious article be not palmed-off as
ourmake in the East. Wetmore is
fully posted in such matters, and has
labored hard for the interesté of the
viticulturists. When the Chronicle
abuses him he cannot be far wrong.
