two Sisters living at the
home. The entire teaching
staff and management
now were lay personnel.
1998-2001
The very last of the Sisters of Mercy now had
numbered three and they
were: Sr. M. Rita Watry,
who had left the house in
1998, and Sisters M.
. Geneva Paluka and M.
; Rita Jane McCarron, who
departed in 2001.
February—March 2001
The last two dedicated
_ Sisters held two
yard/house sales to dispose
of all of the belongings
that were not moved nor
needed at their final destinations, but out church committees
were forced to reschedule the appreciation weekend and
goodbyes twice due to winter weather. However, on March
18, 2001 the Sisters of Mercy were no longer a part of
Nevada County and especially Grass Valley. This was a sad
day for many of us and the Sisters will always be in our
prayers and in our hearts.
