23. Hunt spoke several times in Nevada County, including in December
1947 at Hennessey School and in April 1950 at a banquet honoring
newspaperman and historian Edmund Kinyon. H. P. David “affectionately dedicated” his Gold Rush Days in Nevada City (1948) to
Hunt. See “State Historian Rockwell D. Hunt Rites Tomorrow,”
The Union, 01/26/1966, 9: “But Dr. Hunt’s career touched Nevada
County on many occasions. He was in a measure responsible for the
organization of the Nevada County Historical Society. He visited
here frequently for historical missions and talks and he was acquainted with many in Nevada County, especially Elmer Stevens, an early
Nevada County Historical Society leader.”
