VOLUME 41 ISSUE 1 THE NEVADA COUNTY me Historical ais SOCIety = Celebrating & Preserving the History of Nevada County. . . \y Wt . Quarterly Newsletter PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Greetings Society Members, I am very pleased to report our intent to resume our monthly Speaker Night program starting in January (see scheduled presenters in column to left), with the caveat that we will fully comply with the-then applicable COVID 19 gathering rules and restrictions. For the safety of all attendees, our Board of Directors is requiring all attendees to provide a proof of COVID 19 vaccination and a wearing of mask will be required. I serve on an endowment committee of another non-profit that was the recent beneficiary of a donation in excess of $1.0 M. and that was a pleasant surprise and unexpected distribution from an estate. This caused me to reflect that it is time again to remind our membership that including the Historical Society in your estate planning is an excellent method of ensuring the future financial stability of the Society for generations to come. By simply designating the Society in your will or trust with a designated gift, you can plan for a future donation in any amount. Also, you can choose to direct that such funds be placed into our Endowment Funds that will then be held in perpetuity for the sole benefit of the Society. And, you can also specify a specific favorite museum or library within the Society as the beneficiary. If this is of interest to you and you need more information on just how to accomplish this worthy goad, I’m available to you as a resource to help make this happen. Do call or contact me with your questions. (Continued on Page 2) © Nevada County Historical Society Page 1 1st Quarter, January 2022
