VOLUME 41 ISSUE 4 THE NEVADA COUNTY Ge Historical jgmiig SOCIety = — a *i . = Celebrating & Preserving . ll il . . the History of Nevada County. T= Quarterly Newsletter PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Greetings Society Members, My message in this edition will be purposely brief so that you can get onto the more entertaining and informative articles within. In addition to our regular museum and library director reports, we have two special newsworthy submitted articles, reporting on Society related events. First, you will find a report penned by local author and new Society member Rose Murphy, wherein she shares of her recent tour experience with You Bet and Old Red Dog Mining District historian Jerry Brady. I asked Rose if she would accompany Jerry Brady and then share thoughts of the tour, as well as taking her camera alone so we too could visually experience just a bit of the Brady guided tour. See page 6 for her article. Next, our very own Society treasurer David Bard chaired this year’s Citizen of the Year Nomination Committee and he too reports on the success of their efforts in recognizing the exemplary efforts of Gage McKinney, Tanis Thorn, Chris Ward, and Mark Selverston. At our annual Awards & Volunteer Appreciation barbecue held at Condon Park, Grass Valley on September 25, each was bestowed an award befitting of their notable service in preserving the history of Nevada County.
