News from North Star Mining Museum Submitted by Jeffrey Boylan rand reopening of The North Star Powerhouse (ji Museum, May 6, 2023: They tried to rain us out, but we said, NO!!! Just to be together and swap a few stories made the day unforgettable. And we did get some very interesting characters. Jeffrey Boylan and Gary Smith gave a talk on the legacy of The North Star Mine Powerhouse on May 7 at The North Star House. From construction of the innovative North Star Powerhouse in 1895 designed by Arthur Sy WOLF CREEK TRAIL GRASS VALLEY (Wednesday : ee An ~~ Bivestar Jeffrey Bayle rang the rain. What 1s it? De Wint Foote to abandonment when the mines were shut down in 1956 to rebirth into a world class mining museum in 1971. It was a great honor to give the presentation to a sold out crowd in the Foote family home. Fourth grade classes from Grass Valley Charter, Scotten and Bell Hill kept us busy through the month as we gave tours and told tales of Grass Valley’s leading role in gold production for the hundred years after the Gold Rush. We’re off to a flying start. Wy Dick, Ronnie & Karen Wilder. Dick and Ronnie grew up on Say Whiting St. Dick proposed to S Karen and she said YES, only . if he would move to Fairbanks, Alaska with her. They’re still @. there after 45 years! Ronnie s= lives in Costa Rica. All together visiting their sister having some health issues, after 20 years! Dad used to work the 7,200 foot level of The Empire Mine. Living history.
