98 MAY 20 & 27, 1857 NEVADA DEMOCRAT CHINESE GAMBLERS.—Marshal Plumer and his posse made a descent yesterday afternoon upon a Chinese gambling house and arrested some ten or fifteen children of the flowery kingdom, and lodged them in the calaboose. When taken they were playing with checks, and had no money in sight. Their case was being investigated before the Recorder last evening. POLICEMEN.—At a meeting of the Board of Trustees held on Thursday evening last, P. H. S. Corbitt and John O’Brien were elected policemen. W. B. Garvey has been appointed Deputy Marshal. EPISCOPAL SERVICE.—Rev. Wm. H. Hill of Grace Church, Sacramento, will preach at the court house on Sunday next. THE FRENCH BALLET TROUPE opened at the Nevada Theater on Saturday evening to a good house. They also played on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The entertainments are spoken of in terms of praise by all who witnessed them. Mons. D’Evani is the great attraction. DISTRICT COURT.—On Monday morning, the remaining cases on the calendar were set for trial, as follows: May 21st.—Hardenberg et. al. vs. Kidd et. al. May 25th—Froe vs. Sweetland et. al. June 5th—Burgess vs. Churchman & Fitch; [Catherine] Downing vs. [James H.] Downing; [Caroline] Chapelle vs [Louis] Chapelle; [William T.] Williamson vs. [Adelia or Adele] Williamson. June 6th—Merritt & Bourne vs. Whigham. June 8th—Marlow et. al. vs. Marsh et. al. June 9th—Fitch vs. Churchman. June 10th—McChesney vs. Parker et. al. June 11th—Hendrickson vs. O’Hern; A. Fox vs. A. Fox. June 15th—Woods et. al. vs. Crandall et. al. June 16th—Butler et. al. vs. Laird et. al. June 18th—Kidd et. al. vs. Laird et. al. [DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP of Jesse S. Wall and Henry E. Wall.
