CHAS. W. YOUNG.—The old stand-by of Nevada in the jewelry line, has outlived all competitors,
and still remains to grace the town with his presence. C. W. Young was one of the first to embark in
business here and is determined to be the last to leave.
DISTRICT COURT.—The District Court of the 14th Judicial District was yesterday engaged in
procuring a jury to try the case of Con. Riley for the killing of Dalton. The Court adjourned till today at
10 o’clock. The lawyers engaged for the defendant are Sargent, Searls, Niles and Dibble. H. P. Barber, of
Tuolumne, assists District Attorney Gaylord in the prosecution. The case is one of great interest and our
town is full of new faces.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 1863
TRIAL OF CON. RILEY.—The trial of Cornelius Riley for the killing of Christopher Dalton was
slowly proceeding yesterday in the District Court. We understand there is a multitude of witnesses.
—The testimony was concluded last evening.
NEW SUPERVISOR.—S. D. Bosworth, Esq. of Grass Valley, was formally inaugurated Supervisor
in place of Dr. Sheets, on Monday. Bosworth is a large accession to the Board, because he is a business
man of a fine order of talent. The county will lose nothing by his management.
FIRE AT GRASS VALLEY.—The National gives the following list of losses by the fire of Sunday:
