NEVADA JOURNAL JANUARY 14, 1863 bondage, will, on this, the 14th day of January, 1863, at 2 1/2 o’clock, PM., at the Baptist church, corner of Pine and Spring streets, hold a celebration in commemoration of the same. The public are respectfully invited to attend. Officers of the day—President, Wm. Mulford; Vice Presidents—D. D. Carter, Preston Alexander, and Isaac Sanks. General Committee—John Adams, G. Cantine, J. C. Davis, H. Godar, J. Burbridge, B. Booth. Finance Committee—James Johnson, D. D. Carter, H. McClanahan, H. Dorsey, H. Godar. Order of Exercises—Invocation to the Throne of Grace, Rev. H. Cummings. Before Jehovah’s Awful Throne—by the Audience. Reading of the Proclamation, M. Cantine. My Country ’tis of thee—Audience. Oration—Rev. B. Brierly. Freedom marching on—Audience. Resolutions. NEVADA GYMNASIUM.—Last evening a meeting was held in the gymnasium for the purpose of organizing a Gymnasium Club. The following officers were chosen. President—H. Phillips [Henry Philip]; Vice President, — Rowell. Sec’ y—William Evans. Treasurer—A. D. Tower. Committee to draft By-Laws and Regulations—W. H. Crawford, C. Leavitt, W. E. F. Deal. These same gentlemen were also chosen as committee on Finance. Warden—F. Guild. A vote of thanks was tendered Mr. Keller, their recent teacher, for the efficient training he has given his pupils in gymnastic exercise. Mr. K., we are informed, leaves this city for Marysville, where he intends to reside for the present. FRACAS.—A difficulty occurred yesterday morning at Mrs. Sweeny’s hotel between a Mr. Brown and Shultz, resulting in the former’s getting severely handled. Politics and bad whiskey, we are told, caused the disturbance.
